What is wedding rings

In antiquity, the betrothal rite and the Mystery of the Wedding were separated in time. But now the engagement and the wedding take place in the same service. During the wedding, the bride and groom change their rings three times, the groom has a golden ring, and the bride has a silver one.

In a marriage consecrated by the Church, a man and a woman enter into a mysterious relationship (which is why marriage is called a Sacrament), which, according to the word of the Apostle Paul, are likened to the communion of Christ and the Church. The husband accepts the image of Christ, and the wife accepts the Church. Therefore, gold corresponds to a husband, that is, the color of the Divine Glory of Christ and the Heavenly Jerusalem, and silver to a woman as a symbol of purity, spiritual light and grace.
