ALEXANDER-SVIRSKY MONASTERY

About the place

The Holy Trinity Alexander-Svirsky Monastery stands in the forests between Lake Ladoga and Lake Onega, in the Leningrad region of Russia. It was founded at the end of the 15th century by St Alexander of Svir.

According to the life of the saint, the Holy Trinity appeared to him here. His holy relics rest in the monastery, and pilgrims come to venerate them from all over Russia and from abroad.

Our group spent five days in the monastery in June 2009.
