Orthodox cross necklaces

An Orthodox baptismal cross is worn under clothing on a chain or a cord and is not taken off. Most often it has eight points, the Crucifixion on the front and the prayer "Save and protect" on the back.

For a baby's baptism, people choose a small, light cross with rounded edges; traditionally the godfather buys it. Men's crosses are larger and plainer, women's crosses are finer, often with ornament and blackening.
