DANILOV MONASTERY
About the place
The Holy Danilov monastery was founded at the end of the 13th century by the holy Prince Daniel of Moscow, the youngest son of Alexander Nevsky, and is considered the oldest monastery in Moscow. The relics of St Daniel are kept here.
In 1983 it was the first monastery in Moscow to be returned to the Church. Today it is a stauropegial monastery for men.
The Danilov workshops work at the monastery. Their icons, with a workshop certificate, are available in our shop.
