Description
St Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra in the 4th century, was known for his mercy to the poor and his defence of the wrongly condemned. He is the patron of travellers, sailors and children, and his icon is found in almost every Orthodox home.
The image follows a Byzantine icon, with a silver- and gold-plated cover. It measures 21 x 28 cm and is 13 mm thick, and it is set in a frame with glass that keeps dust and fingerprints off the cover. Handmade.
The base is brown MDF, with 999 silver applied by physical vapour deposition (PVD). Wipe the glass and frame with a dry soft cloth.
