Description
Tradition holds that the Vladimir icon was painted by the Evangelist Luke; it was brought from Constantinople in the 12th century. The Christ Child presses his cheek to his Mother's face, the tender type known as Eleousa. People pray before it for their families and for peace at home.
The icon follows the Byzantine image in its traditional colours. At 21 x 28 cm and 13 mm thick it is a large icon, often the centre of a home icon corner. Handmade and supplied in a gift box.
The base is brown MDF, and the 999 silver coating is applied by physical vapour deposition (PVD). Wipe it with a dry soft cloth, without water or cleaning products.
