Description
By tradition the Vladimir icon was painted by the Evangelist Luke and brought from Constantinople in the 12th century. The Child presses His cheek to His Mother's face, a type known as Eleousa, "of Tenderness".
The icon measures 6.4 x 5 cm. Place it in an icon corner or on a shelf, tuck it into a bag for a journey, or give it to a mother or godmother.
The special alloy base is coated with 999 silver by physical vapour deposition (PVD), and the colour image is screen-printed. Wipe the icon with a dry soft cloth.
