Monastery of the Holy Prophetess Anna and St Gabriel
Georgia. The monastery that keeps the personal belongings of St Gabriel, the third place where we take prayer notes.
A monastery dedicated to the Holy Prophetess Anna and to St Gabriel (Urgebadze). It keeps the cloak of the elder and his personal belongings. With the written blessing of Mother Paraskeva, prayer notes submitted through our site are read here.

MONASTERY OF THE HOLY PROPHETESS ANNA AND ST GABRIEL
About the place
The monastery is dedicated to the Holy Prophetess Anna and to St Gabriel (Urgebadze), confessor and fool for Christ, one of the most loved saints of modern Georgia. Its abbess is the nun Paraskeva (Rostiashvili), who was the cell attendant of the elder for many years.
The monastery keeps the cloak of St Gabriel and his personal belongings. Pilgrims venerate them and ask the elder for his prayers: shortly before his death he said, "I am not leaving to abandon you. I am going to pray for you."
For Mother Paraskeva these things are the memory of the years she spent beside the elder. She tells pilgrims about his ascetic life and blesses everyone who comes to the monastery.
On 21 October 2026 Mother Paraskeva gave the Andcross pilgrimage centre her written blessing: to tell people about the monastery, to bring pilgrims to the holy things of St Gabriel, to receive the names of Orthodox Christians for commemoration and pass them on to the monastery, and to represent handmade monastic items. This is why prayer notes for the living and the departed that you submit through our site are read here too, as well as in Samtavro and in the Monastery of the Nativity in Borjomi.
On our trips around Georgia pilgrims meet Mother Paraskeva. The meeting and her blessing are described below.
More about Mother Paraskeva and her memories of the elder is in the article Mother Paraskeva: a Blessing at Samtavro and Memories of St Gabriel.

A SPECIAL MEETING ON PILGRIMAGE
The blessing of Mother Paraskeva
For members of the NIKA association of the disabled who travel with us to the holy places of Georgia, the meeting with Mother Paraskeva has a special spiritual meaning. For many years she was the cell attendant of St Gabriel (Urgebadze), one of the most venerated Georgian saints.
Mother Paraskeva spent many years beside St Gabriel, witnessed his ascetic life and treasures her memories of him. Meeting her gives pilgrims a chance to touch the spiritual legacy of the holy elder.
The blessing holds a special place in this meeting. Mother Paraskeva makes the sign of the cross over each pilgrim, holding a vial with the blood of St Gabriel: the faithful venerate it as a holy relic, and she has reverently kept it for many years.
For the pilgrims this is not just a memorable event but a deeply personal spiritual experience. Many come to the holy places with their prayers, hopes, hardships and requests for help. The meeting with Mother Paraskeva gives them consolation, warmth and a sense of spiritual closeness to St Gabriel.
Such moments are especially precious for the members of NIKA. Our trips not only introduce the participants to Orthodox holy places and the history of Christianity but also create an atmosphere of care, mutual support and spiritual unity.
The blessing of Mother Paraskeva remains one of the brightest and most moving memories of the pilgrimage. It strengthens faith, gives hope and reminds us that sincere prayer, love and mercy can support a person even in the hardest times of life.
