The front shows the Crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ, the back carries the Prayer to the Precious and Life-giving Cross, "Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered". Orthodox Christians say it at the end of their evening prayers, asking for protection by the power of the Cross.
