Description

The icon of St Gabriel was painted from photographs of the saint, so the image stays close to how he looked: a black monastic mantle and a right hand raised in blessing. The set holds the icon, a particle of cloth blessed on the relics of St Gabriel and a wooden box to keep them in.

St Gabriel (Urgebadze) reposed in the Lord in 1995 and was numbered among the saints by the Georgian Church in 2012. His relics rest at Samtavro monastery in Mtskheta; people ask his prayers for health, for healing and for those they love.

The icon is on a wooden base, 145 x 100 mm and 18 mm thick, with an antique-effect finish. The box measures 165 x 125 x 30 mm. The set is blessed at Samtavro monastery.
