Description
Put together at the Holy Dormition Pskov-Caves monastery, the set holds an icon of the Vladimir Mother of God, a box of 12 wax candles, a ceramic candle holder and a prayer book with the Akathist to the Vladimir icon. Each candle bears the image of the Mother of God and the words "Save and protect".
Tradition holds that the Vladimir icon was painted by the Evangelist Luke. It was brought from Constantinople in the 12th century and became one of the most venerated icons of the Mother of God; people pray before it for their families and for peace at home.
The icon is on a wooden base, 90 x 110 mm and 20 mm thick. The candles are 195 x 8 mm, the holder 70 x 45 mm. The icon comes from the monastery workshops, is blessed and has a workshop certificate.
