PSKOV-CAVES MONASTERY

About the place

The Holy Dormition Pskov-Caves monastery was founded in 1473 in Pechory. It grew around caves known as the God-made caves, where the brethren of the monastery are buried to this day.

The monastery has never been closed in its whole history, including the Soviet years. Many renowned elders lived here, among them Archimandrite John (Krestiankin).

The monastery workshops make icons that are blessed in the monastery. These icons, with a workshop certificate, are available in our shop.
